Aix-en-Provence is a historical and wonderful city in France. It was found by the Roman consul Sextius Calvinus, who gave its name. The city was occupied by the Visigoths, by the Saracens and by Charles Martel, but the city was strong enough. Today it is a modern exciting city with all these ancient places. To the north of the city, the Cathedral of the Holy Saviour is located. It is a fantastic architecture. It combines a mixture of styles from 5th to 17th century and Gothic style. Not far from this building, there is the Quartier Mazarin. This architecture was constructed in the last half of the 17th century. Close to it, it is the Musee Granet, devoted to European painting and sculpture. The city is famous for its charming and amazing fountains. The most majestic is Fountain of the Four Dolphins. Aix-en-Provence provides a variety of festivals such as the 'Festival international d'Art Lyrique', takes place in late June and July every year. The city has a great number of museums and libraries. There is Museum of Old Aix, resemble the history of the city, Natural History Museum, Le Musee Paul Arbaud and many others. There is enough green and picturesque space for having a rest and enjoying the marvelous scenery of nature. Alx-en-Provence has fantastic parks and memorable garden, where people feel like in a fair tale world. The city consists of modern autoroute. The transport system of the city is well developed and has a perfect buss services. The tourists can reach any regions they need as quickly as possible.
